Chicken All You Can at Max's

This is my first time to try Max's anniversary promo. My food buddy Mae and I went to Max's Restaurant in Sucat to have an eat all you chicken experience. Unfortunately, we arrived at Max's at 8:30 PM and the promo is only until 10:00 PM. We were thinking that since we only had an hour and a half left, we need to eat quickly, so we can eat more chicken. LOL! But at 9:30 PM, i got a call from Jo and we need to go home na. So in a span of 1hour we were able to eat 4 quarter pieces of  chicken. Not bad at all since we only paid P165 for the chicken and P39 for the bottomless Softdrink. =)

2nd time @ Zao Serendra

I heart their food! =)  This is my second visit to Zao Vietnamese Bistro but this time, i brought the whole family! We tried other foods in the menu but mostly we ordered their specialties. All i can say is YUMMY!
I also took photos of the menu so that other people will have an idea of the foods and the prices too. :) Enjoy looking at the pictures!

Here's what we ordered. Instead of the Pho (Noodle Soup), we ordered a Bowl of Pho Broth. We choose beef. Even without the noodles and the meat, the Pho Broth still tastes fantastic! You can order Chicken, Pork or Beef Broth. You can ask for condiments and it includes bean sprouts, a slice of lemon and chilis. Put it all in your soup and voila, Beef Pho for the soul!
Bowl of Pho Broth (Php 55)

bean sprouts, fresh, basil lemon and chilis for the Pho

Sriracha Hot Sauce? (I'm not sure of the name, corredt me if I'm wrong) and Hoisin Sauce for the Pho

Crispy Spring Rolls (Php 195)
This is one of the Best Sellers. Crispy Spring Rolls or Cha Gio are traditionally made with rice paper wrappers and it consists of Pork, Mushroom  and Glass Noodles, which are thin, transparent, wiry noodles made from Mung Bean starch. The crispy spring rolls are served with Lettuce wrap, bean sprouts and carrots. Then you dip your  rolls in Nuoc Nam, which is the traditional Vietnamese mixed fish sauce.

Grilled Chicken Salad (Php 195)
It has Cabbage, Basil, Cilantro, Roasted Peanuts and Chili, in Spiced Lime Vinaigrette. This salad is very light and delicious. It also has a few shrimp crackers on the side which added crunchiness to the salad.

Barbeque Spare Ribs (Php 295)
Another Best Seller that you should try! Yummiest Barbeque Spare Ribs I've tasted so far. The meat is chargrilled and yet it remained soft and easy to chew. One bite and the flavors will explode in your mouth! It is garlicky, spicy and sweet all at the same time.

Zao Fried Rice
It has seafoods and salted egg

Zao Satay Platter (Php 345)
A sampler of their Grilled Satay specialties of Shrimp, Beef, Pork and Chicken. Serve on a bed of Lettuce.

White Chocolate and Banana Tart (Php 175)
For dessert, we tried this White Chocolate Banana Tart. It has Bananas and White Chocolate as filling, and topped with Creme Chantilly, which is just a sweetened whipped cream, and dusted with Toasted Coconuts. The base of the tart is made from Chocolate Almond Sugar Crust.

My first time at Little Quiapo

We went to SM Southmall last week and bought 2 plastic storage boxes. It was big so we had a hard time fitting it in the trunk of the car. After our battle with the boxes, we got hungry but we cannot think of anything to eat at SM so my friend suggested we go to Little Poquia, as what may friend Mae calls it. Little Quiapo is a quaint restaurant along Aguirre Ave. BF Homes, Pque City. Mae said it serves the best Pansit Palabok and she's right about! For only P80, it's already good for 2 persons, because they have big servings and lots of toppings. We ate our Palabok with Sago't Gulaman, which is also good, not too sweet, but still yummy! Maki tried their Halo-Halo Regular. She said it tastes good and I believe her because it looks good to me. Hehe! The restaurant serves Filipino foods and I will go back soon and try other foods in their menu.

My 1st Blueberry Cheesecake

I made other cheesecakes before, White Toblerone, Oreo, Mango, Peaches, Banana and Orange (weird right? lol! Coz that's the only fruit available in our ref that time.) I made this Blueberry cheesecake last February for my Mom's birthday. Too bad i wasn't able to take a picture of the sliced cheesecake. Not a pretty shot, eh? Anyway, i promised my friend Camille that i will post another cheesecake as soon as i have all the ingredients ready.

Ingredients:
Crust:
  • 9 whole graham crackers
  • 3 tablespoons golden brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling:
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin (Knox)

  • 1 pack Philadelphia cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 pack all purpose cream
  • 1 cup sugar

  • Topping:
  • 1 cup chilled heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2/3 cup blueberry jam
  • 1 can blueberry

Directions:

For crust:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Blend first 4 ingredients in processor until graham crackers are finely ground. Add butter and vanilla; process until moist crumbs form. Press crumb mixture onto bottom and 1 inch up sides of 9-inch-diameter springform pan.

For filling:
1. Pour 1/4 cup water into small saucepan; sprinkle gelatin over. Let stand 10 minutes. Stir over very low heat just until gelatin dissolves. Set aside.
2. Blend cream cheese, cream, sugar in processor until smooth.  With machine running, add warm gelatin mixture through feed tube and blend well. Pour filling into crust. Cover; chill overnight. (Can be made 2 days ahead. Keep chilled.) Run knife around pan sides to loosen cake. Release pan sides. Transfer to platter.

For topping:
1. Beat cream and sugar in medium bowl until firm peaks form. Spread cream mixture thickly over top of cheesecake.
2. Place berries in bowl. Heat jam in small saucepan over low heat until just melted. Pour jam over berries; toss to coat. Mound coated berries in center of cream, leaving 1-inch plain border. Chill cake at least 1 hour and up to 1 day.
